Chris Sauter
San Antonio based artist Chris Sauter's mixed media sculptural practice converts common objects into other familiar objects, plays with extreme scale shifts, and explores radical juxtapositions of objects and materials. The transformation and superimposition of domestic items is his primary focus, because these are items that pervade our visual vocabulary. In "Generator," Sauter symbolically gouges out chunks of our home life. In other works, such as "Oven Recliner," he wraps over objects with familiar fabrics, to create hybrids of forms that evoke complex relationships between the various objects and materials.
